Message from our President

As I cast my mind to the beginning of Sanskruti Mahila Utkarsh Trust, in a small office in Ahmedabad with 1 employee, it has been a very rewarding and satisfying journey. Having grown up as the youngest of 5 sisters who were all very well educated, I could see how education and employment played a key role in a woman’s life. I could see how my sisters could better manage their families, teach their kids well and also be looked up in society. On the other hand, I could see other women around me who were less trained and hence suffered serious constraints in their life. Somewhere in those times, the seeds of this trust were laid in my mind. What began as a passion project some 3 decades ago, has now become a reputed NGO affiliated with Central and state government agencies and institutes engaged in more than 25 activities and programs.

We are committed to women empowerment and feel that making them self-sufficient and exposing them to the world around is critical for that. With most of staff being women, we are women working for other women. We have now trained and empowered more than 25,000 women across urban and rural areas and belonging to all economic classes. From skill trainings to soft skills and business and entrepreneurship, we teach everything that they need to be successful.

For me personally, it has been a humbling and eye opening experience in these 30+ years of service. The challenges for women keep on changing as the society we live in changes. We have done well till now but we wish to do much more. For me and my team the happy faces and blessings of those women we train, empower and get employment for are key motivators that give us strength and keep us going.

In your service,

Yogini H. Brahmbhatt
